ABOUT
COASTAL WOMEN’S SHELTER
Coastal Women’s Shelter was established in
1986 to provide services to victims of
domestic violence in Craven, Jones, and
Pamlico counties. Coastal Women’s Shelter’s
mission is to help victims live lives free
of domestic violence and to identify/acquire
the skills necessary to be self-sufficient.
The vision is to prevent future domestic
violence and to eradicate existing domestic
violence. Over the last 20+ years, Coastal
Women’s Shelter has evolved into a program
that provides comprehensive services which
include: 24-hour crisis line; court
advocacy; shelter; survival skills training;
weekly support group for women and children;
and community awareness events. Last year we
received over 7,600 crisis line calls;
provided housing, employment, medical, and
legal advocacy to over 2,800 victims;
provided court advocacy to 630 victims; and
sheltered 70 women and children.
